Letter sent from Aarhus 2 February 1942 to Max Andersen, a Danish slave labourer in Germany at the camp “Lager zur Hochbrücke Kiel-Wik under control of “Marinebauamt”, but then returned to sender with the message that he has left the camp. A rare example showing that Germany also used a lot of Danish slave labourers.

Commercial envelope sent from Charlotte Amalie Saint Thomas to Copenhagen 16 July 1918, franked with 5¢ US. British censor resealing tape “OPENED BY/CENSOR./5213”. Sent the year after the transition to the US.

Official letter “Færøernes Politikreds” to the Minystry of Justice in Copenhagen, with oval stamp “FÆRÖ AMT” on reverse, bearing a 15 øre Caravel issue tied by “STATSMINISTERIET 18.MAR.1940” when arriving in Copenhagen. Probabliy sent in courier mail bag aboard “Islands Falk” leaving Thorshavn 12 March and arriving Copenhagen 18 March. Only a few letters are known sent from Faroe Islands with “STATSMINISTERIET” postmark. The reason for not cancelling the letters before arrival in Copenhagen was in order that the stamps could be used for forwarding the letters to the addressee.

Parcel card to Hejlmann, Godthaab. Two 10 øre 1915 IV printing, 20 øre VII printing 1915 and two 1 kr. 1930 (AFA 7, 9, 11) tied by oval mark “GRØNLANDS STYRELSE” in black, GF1, no. 21.00). Two PRINTED MATTER parcels weighing each 5-10 kg, 120 øre per parcel 1931-rate, correct 240 øre franking. Sent with „Disko” from Copenhagen 6 October 1933. Parcel card “Form. Ah. 57019” GF13.

4S stationery envelope sent from Nakskov to Sierhagen, Neustadt-Holsteen on 2 September 1866 cancelled with numeral “43” alongside CDS “NAKSKOV 2/9 7F-3E”. With the rate to Northern Germany at favored 6 sk. rate for first letter rate 1.8.1865.-.31.12.1874, 2 sk. missing. First postmarked “UTILSTRÆKKELIGT FRANKERET” and charged “2” sk. in red crayon, then cancelled as sender paid the 2 sk. in cash and notation “franco 2”. Rare mixed franking with postage paid partly in cash.

Lettersheet sent from Stokkemarke 5 March 1865 to Nykjøbing, bearing a 4 sk. Coat-of-Arms 64 II printing, tied by numeral 110, 1-line mark “Stokkemarke.” + datemanuscript 5/3 65. 4 sk. with short perforations.

Telegram from Nykjøbing Sjælland and sent expedited in Thorshavn 5 October 1929. Stamped with oval cachet “DET STORE NORDISKE TELEGRAF-SELSKAB / THORSHAVN / 5 OKT 1929”.

Postcard sent from Auerbach 18 February 1922 to Julianehaab, Greenland. Postcard written in Esperanto, a most unusual destination for a Esperanto letter. 

Letter sent surface mail from Egedesminde 6 November 1941 to Copenhagen, Denmark. At this time, all mail was sent through US. The letter arrived in NY, there censored and sealed with censorstrip “EXAMINED BY / 6428” and after the attack on Pearl Harbor on 6 Dec 41 and mail to Denmark was then censored, and suspended. NY Morgan Annex 17 APR 1942 on reverse, on front stamped large type “SERVICE SUSPENDED / RETURNED TO SENDER.”

Unpaid letter sent from Stettin to Copenhagen 16 August 1855. Octogonal “FRA STETTIN” in blue colour, scarce in this colour. The postmark was used on board the mail steamer on letters found in the mail box. Conventional 18 sk. postage as per postal agreement per 1 February 1854, noted with pencel “18” sk. and due by recipient.

Printed matter from Christiansted 25 November 1916 to Copenhagen, Denmark. 5 BIT printed matter rate paid with 5 BIT King Frederik VIII issued tied by “CHRITIANSTED 25/11 1916”. Rarely seen postal rate.

Royal Service Letter with cert. 351 sent from Itzehoe to Wilster (1854), with gothic “ITZEHOE 9.9” marked on front, also being the latest recorded use of this postmark, only known 18 days from 21.8.1854 till 9.9.1854. Scarce postmark.

"Entire sent from Friedrichsruh via Schwarzenbeck with a beautiful strike of the "Friedrichsruh" boxed segment mark and manuscript date “23/7 1852”, also “franco” with red crayon 2 (Sch.C), alongside a 1-ring “Schwarzenbeck” CDS. Indeed a superb example of the scarce Friedrichsruh mark."

Postal COD (Cash On Delivery) on complete form for 197,15 Dkr. sent from Thorshavn to Kvivig. Due to the shortage of stamps during WWII, the provisional stamp “FÆRØERNE - FRANCO BETALT” were applied and postage paid in cash, here paid 60 øre for COD from 100-300 dkr. Not paid by the addressee and therefore the entire form returned to Thorshavn where it arrived 7 June 1941.

Soldiers letter sent from Schelde 23 March 1864 to Perleberg, Brandenburg. Stamped with two-ring “K.Pr.FELDPOST III-ARMEE CORPS 24/3” and by the unit's mark “Könligl. Preussisches - 2T Batallon, 7T Brandenburg Infant. Regt. No. 60”.

Field Post letter sent from Christiansfeld 23 August 1864 and postmarked “K.PR.FELDPOST-RELAIS No. 8”. The Prussian troops occupied Jutland in the 1864-war and opened a Field Post office No. 8 in Christiansfeld, where the postmark was used during the occupation. Slightly stained.

NEWSPAPER WRAPPER BAND with Postal Money Demand 22 Rdl 22 sk. sent from Hamburg to Pellworm 17.4 (1858-1863). Double letter rate paid by pair of 4 sk. 1858 wavy-line spandrels, Money Order Fee 8 sk. 5-10 Rdl. paid in cash, list no. 30. Wrapper bands are very unusual items.
