Forwarded letter sent from London through the Danish post office in Altona 29. May 1858 to Assens, Denmark. Franked with a 4 sk. 1858 dotted spandrels V. printing, plate V, retouch lower right spandrels, pos. 57 or 86.

Military letter sent from Theod. Kaiser at the 10th Companie 16th Landwehr Regiment of the mobile forces in Jutland during the 1848-51 war and postmarked “KONIGL.PREUSS.FELDPOST” two-ring mark and a weak boxed mark from the battalion. Letters with these postmarks used in Denmark are rarely seen.

Value parcel sent from Esbjerg to Copenhagen 29 August 1918 and franked with 5 kr. Central Post Office 1915-issue and eight 27 øre provisional issue. Charge: parcel up to 1 kg 25 øre plus value fee, first 1000 kr. 15 øre and 129x 5 øre for the next 129.000 kr., total charge 685 øre, overfranked by 31 øre. Vertical fold through two stamps.

Registered Express Airmail letter to New York from Reykjavik July 1947 with NY arrival mark on reverse. Registration 60 aur, express 125 aur, letter 0-20 gram 60 aur, 2x 90 aur airmail surcharge each 5 gramm, total 425 aur. Overfranked by 75 aur, but still an attractive cover.

Wrapper band bearing 1/2 Sch. rosalila SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN (1865) sent on printed matter from Kiel to Rendsburg 12 October 1867. The stamp was again allowed valid for postage from November 1866 till 31 December 1867. Wrapper bands with a faultless stamp tied by a postmark is quite uncommon.

Insufficiently paid 5 aur Two Kings stationery sent from Reykjavik to Hamburg 14 December 1908. UPU rate 10 aur, 5 aur under franked, 10 aur due. German 1-ring “T” and 1-line “PORTO” and Hamburg CDS arrival mark on front, manuscript “12 1/2 cts”.

Ship-letter sent from Stettin to Copenhagen 21 October 1859 showing octagonal “FRA STETTIN”, endorsed “18” sk. due by the addressee, paying the German rayon 2 to Danish rayon 9, each 9 sk.

5 aur postal stationery REPLY CARD sent from Reykjavik to Kolding 2 December 1896, additional franked with 3 aur small numeral perf 14, with Kolding JBPE CDS arrival mark on front. Denmark favoured rate only 8 aur instead of 10 aur UPU rate.

Railway freight stamps from “De Jydsk-Fyenske Jernbaner”, 8 sk. for 5 length 10 Mill and 12 sk. for 5 length 20 Mill. A rare set, small faults.

Letter sent to US Army General Bonesteel, US Perhsing Camp 22 December 1941. In October General Bonesteel had established his headquarters at Camp Tadcaster, soon renamed Camp Pershing, some two miles east of Reykjavik and about a mile from British headquarters at Camp Alabaster. Also 1941 Thorvaldsen-Society Christmas seal, but not tied.
