Two 15 øre King Christian X tied by IVIGTUT 8.10.1941, Australian resealing tape Opened by Censor 2 and boxed censor stamp 2 / PASSED BY CENSOR 1193. Sent by a Mr. Zielke from San Francisco. Mail from Greenland via US was not censored at this time prior to Pearl Harbor attack December 1941.

Registered letter sent from Thule to Zurich, Switzerland 1 January 1940 bearing a 1 kr. Polar Bear tied by Thule CDS. Censored in Berlin. Correct rate, 25 øre registration fee and 75 øre 4th letter rate (60-80 gramms), total 100 øre. Correct franking.

Iceland APO 809-a, FIRST COVER stamped 16 March 1942, the number 809-a quite scarce.

Wrapper sheet sent from Uxbridge August 1941 to the Ivigtut Kryolit-mine, Greenland, via the Greenland Delegation, NY. Sent to a seaman Arne Jørgensen onboard LERCHENBORG. Franked with 1/2d green. The wrapper contained three copies of the magazine FRIT DANMARK, Danish Counsil, the Danish excile government in UK. A rare postal document.

Air mail letter sent from Greenland to Denmark 26 October 1940 via USA-Lissabon, German censorship Frankfurt (Hopballe label 34.03), bearing a block of 10 of 1 øre stamps, 5 øre and 1 kr. Polar Bear, overpaying the letter with 10 øre.

Danish parcel card to Mr. T. Wodschouw, Godthaab with three 20 øre (AFA 9) tied by oval GRØNLANDS STYRELSE. Danish ADRESSEKORT type Bet. 4. 10/80, for a parcel of books weighing 2 kg. and label CI 1460 / Grønland, sent with DISCO on 22 May 1933 from Copenhagen to Greenland.

Domestic letter free of postage, sent from Umanak to Frederikshaab 16 August 1945. Danmarkimut adhesive affixed on front and back.

Parcel card to Hejlmann, Godthaab. Two 10 øre 1915 IV printing, 20 øre VII printing 1915 and two 1 kr. 1930 (AFA 7, 9, 11) tied by oval mark “GRØNLANDS STYRELSE” in black, GF1, no. 21.00). Two PRINTED MATTER parcels weighing each 5-10 kg, 120 øre per parcel 1931-rate, correct 240 øre franking. Sent with „Disko” from Copenhagen 6 October 1933. Parcel card “Form. Ah. 57019” GF13.

Postcard sent from Auerbach 18 February 1922 to Julianehaab, Greenland. Postcard written in Esperanto, a most unusual destination for a Esperanto letter. 

Letter sent surface mail from Egedesminde 6 November 1941 to Copenhagen, Denmark. At this time, all mail was sent through US. The letter arrived in NY, there censored and sealed with censorstrip “EXAMINED BY / 6428” and after the attack on Pearl Harbor on 6 Dec 41 and mail to Denmark was then censored, and suspended. NY Morgan Annex 17 APR 1942 on reverse, on front stamped large type “SERVICE SUSPENDED / RETURNED TO SENDER.”

UNCENSORED Airmail letter from Copenhagen 11 September 1940 to Nanortalik, Greenland. Nine 20/15 øre provisional and a 10 øre wavy-line tied by CDS KØBENHAVN 11.9.1940. Rate to Greenland 20 øre, 2x 85 øre air mail surcharge per 5 gram = 190 øre. Passed through the censorship witihout being censored, as the received was a government official at the Colony Nanortalik, postal routing instruction “Greenland” in blue crayon. Few such letters known to Greenland without any censor markings.

1936-1938. Large piece from parcel wrapping with two 5 øre 1918 and 1924 issue Pakke-Porto stamps apllied and cancelled with the oval mark ”KOLONIEN GODTHAAB” 1921-38 and on arrival in Copenhagen cancelled ”GRØNLANDS STYRELSE” 1931-38, but incomplete franking. Parcel registration no. 924, Kbh 19, ”fragile” parcel and with the entire addressee kept intact. Only a few such pieces recorded.

Parcel letter sent from Copenhagen 10 May 1865 to Egedesminde, Greenland. Sent with Briggen “Mariane” which was in Greenland voyages from 1839 to 1869. The ship ran aground 7 May 1869 on the rocks the fake Kookøer 4 mil north of Nuuk, no one died, but wrecked. The letter is complete, including St. Croix Rhum. Noted “25” in blue crayon, the number on the ship mail list. Beautifully preserved.

Canadian 3c stationery written in Thule, Greenland aboard the “Eastern Arctic - Mail Service - R.M.S. “Nascopie - AUG 24 1938” cachet stamped on the 3c Canadian stamp and sent to England, and with the card written inside. Rare example of a Canadian stamp used in Greenland.

Postcard sent from Wittenberge (Potsdam) 31 October 1923 to Godthaab bearing fur 5 MILLIONEN inflation stamps tied by Wittenberge CDS. Rare destination for an infla cover.

Parcel card to Blicher Nielsen, Upernavik. One 10 øre 1915 IV printing, 70 øre and two 3 Kr. 1930-issue (AFA 7, 10, 12) tied by oval mark “GRØNLANDS STYRELSE” in black, GF1, no. 21.01). Two parcels weighing 6,75 and 6 kg., total postage 680 øre. Parcel card “Form. Ah. 57019” GF13.
