Parcel shipped from Copenhagen to Stokkseyri, Iceland via Reykjavik 21 May 1933. From Reykjavik to Stokkseyri a charge for transportation by car of “Bilgj ób 1 kr.” were paid upon arrival by receiver. The rate was 5 aur per 50 km, thus for parcel of kg. 10 x 10 aur (50-100 km) makes 100 aur. It is very unusual to find this sort of local charge by car.

Parcel letter franked with 161 sk. paying the parcel rate from Aalborg to Montgomery County, Alabama USA sent from Aalborg 12 March 1871 and from Bremen 15 March to NY aboard the steamer “Silicia” arriving NY 27 March. Lovely five-colour transatlantic letter from Denmark, highest recorded skilling franking to US and only one of two parcel letters to US. An impressive exhibition item.

Parcel card franked with three 20 øre Coat-of-Arms issue perforation 14 x 13 1/2 and 12 øre bicolored pen-cancelled to be sent from Copenhagen to Stettin. Noted on top margin “pr. „Titania””. Quite remarkably not with any postmarks, dates or note of parcels, a piece that I never have the the like of earlier.

4 sk. 1858 V printing 1861, burelage IIa. The burelage was always ment to be on the same side as the stamp imprint itself. The printing process was first to print the watermarked paper sheet with the burelage, when ink was dry, the printing of the stamp design above the burelage was made. Only a very few times, the burelage printed sheet were mixed up and the stamp imprint actually was printed on the other empty side of the paper sheet, thus one side has the burelage, the other the stamp imprint. A true Danish gem of the squared issue in mint condition, extremely rare.

Entire sent from Copenhagen to Christiania on 22 September 1863 bearing a 16 sk. rouletted and 4 sk. 1863-issue, tied by numeral “1” alongside CDS “KIØBENHAVN O.P.E. 22.9.1863” in blue. 20 sk. is paying the letter rate to Norway by steamer, through Sweden it would have been 24 sk. at the time.

Wrapper 5 øre Coat-of-Arms sent from Aarhus 2 May 1905 to Italy, uprated with 10 øre King Christian IX (AFA 47) tied by CDS Aarhus. 

Entire from Gravenstein 3 September 1852 to Flensburg. Postage paid with a 4 RBS Ferslew printing plate I, cancelled with two strikes of mute 4-ring canceller and datestamped ANTIII-1 - GRAVENSTEIN. 3/9 1852 –, earliest date and one of only two recorded on letter with 4 RBS Ferslew.

Entire sent from Toftlund 7 September 1872 to Kolding, Denmark. Franked with DR 1 Groschen Small Eagle issue tied by prussian 1-ring cds ‘TOFTLUND 7 9 72 4-5N.’, paying 1 Gr. for the border rate Germany-Denmark, only very few border rate covers known with 1 GR DR Eagle issue.

Foot post letter from Copenhagen 11 November 1812 to Roeskilde. Manuscript “frit” indicated that the letter was prepaid to Roeskilde. In Roeskilde the local delivery fee of 2 sk. marked with red crayon “2” paid by addressee. Foot post letters sent outside Copenhagen to other provincial cities are in fact small rarities.

Insufficiently paid domestic letter from Aalborg 14 October 1853 to Hobro 4 RBS Thiele I printing, tied by numeral ‘4’ AALBORG. Postal note ‘2’ indicating 2nd letter rate 15-30 gram, and charged in full ‘6’ skilling due by addressee.

Letter from sent fom the Island of Seeland 28 March 1860 to Schwerin, Mecklenburg. Franked with 4 sk. 1858 II printing and 8 sk. 1858 wavy-line spandrels, tied by duplex numeral ‘182’ SJÆLL.POST:SPED.BUREAU T2 28/3 1860’. Insufficiently franked by 1 sk., rate 13 sk. 15.7.1854 – 29.2.1864, due by addressee = ¾ Sgr. noted in red crayon. A rare combination of 4 and 8 sk. wavy-line issue.

Label ’29 / Apenrade / 38’, parcel weighing 4,5 kg. German red ‘Eilbogen-Zettel’, Danish ilpakke and ekspres labels. Parcel rate 15.3 – 20.6.1920 until 5 Kg. rated at a fee of 12 Mark, German Express fee German Reich from 6.5.20 1 Mark, total rate 13 Mark. Overfranked with 1,40 Mark, stamps with minor faults.

Registered letter from Commission Internationale Slesvig in Flensburg 17 May 1920 to Aabenraa, Denmark. 10 pf and 1 Mk. C·I·S overprint tied by datestamp FLENSBURG 17.5.20 5-6N, registration label ‘R / Flensburg 1. / No. 355’ and backstamped APENRADE 17.5.20.

Part of travel pass. Stamped with the large VISA mark “Vised good for” stay and fortsat rejse in Slesvig at the border crossing Farris, 21 FEB 1920. Plebiscit SLESVIG 5 MK corrected to 8 Kr. and used as fiscal duty stamp, cancelled with oval “CIS 25 JAN 1920 SLESVIG”. Stamped with cachets from the CIS.

German Personalausweis Nr. 77, issued in Lüneburg 6 Mai 1921, valid until 5 Mai 1921. Issued for Anna Schuhmann, Geboren Hansen. On the back of the Reisepass, Plebiscit “Reise-Pas” issued Hamburg and stamped with the large VISA mark “Vised good for” stay in Slesvig at the border crossing Stedesand, 10. Maj 1920 and valid for stay in Slesvig until 15 Mai 1920. Pair of Plebiscit SLESVIG 5 MK used as fiscal duty stamp, cancelled with oval “CIS 10. MAJ. 1920 SLESVIG” and oval CIS Stedesand cachet.

Royal letter signed by King Frederik IV, dated Haupt-Qvartier vor Stade 10 September 1712 and addressed to General and General Gouvenor Jobst von Scholten during Great Northern War (Store Nordiske Krig). The letter is written in Stade, only two days after the Swedish capitulation and Stade remained Danish until 1715.

Postcard from Hoyerschleusse 11 July 1920 to Berlin, Germany. Plebiscit 10 øre 1 ZONE single postal stationery card cancelled with Danish railroad mark DAKA 266.02 ‘TØNDER – HØJER 11.7.21 T. 1207’, scarce on letters.

Entire sent from Christianhavns Caserne 21 December 1850 to Roskilde. Footpost cancellation Skilling 5 OVA-1 ‘F: 10 21/12 50 P:’ and on reverse Antiqua III ‘KJØBENHAVN 21/12 1850’ both in bluish green ink. Letter list ‘6 – 3’, no. 6 on the list and rate 3 sk. to Roskilde, in Roskilde 2 sk. local carrier’s fee, total due red crayon ‘5’ charged on front. Footpost letter sent to other cities in Denmark are quite unusual.
