This letter was sent with »Brúarfoss« or »Gullfoss« which anchored at Kirkwall as mailed was ceased and sent for censorship in Liverpool, where the letter received the boxed “RELEASED BY CENSOR”, stamped on front and reverse. The letter is illustrade in Hopballe book page 125.

Due to heavy gales from 15/2 delayed for more than a week. Charged 1/4 d for British postage, and German due (58 Rb. Sk.). Letters from DWI to Germany from this period considered a rarity.

Rate to Greenland 20 øre, 2x 85 øre air mail surcharge per 5 gram = 190 øre. Passed through the censorship witihout being censored, as the received was a government official at the Colony Nanortalik, postal routing instruction “Greenland” in blue crayon. Few such letters known to Greenland without any censor markings.

Large piece from parcel wrapping with two 5 øre 1918 and 1924 issue Pakke-Porto stamps apllied and cancelled with the oval mark ”KOLONIEN GODTHAAB” 1921-38 and on arrival in Copenhagen cancelled ”GRØNLANDS STYRELSE” 1931-38, but incomplete franking. Parcel registration no. 924, Kbh 19, ”fragile” parcel and with the entire addressee kept intact. Only a few such pieces recorded.
