Parcel letter sent from Copenhagen 10 May 1865 to Egedesminde, Greenland. Sent with Briggen “Mariane” which was in Greenland voyages from 1839 to 1869. The ship ran aground 7 May 1869 on the rocks the fake Kookøer 4 mil north of Nuuk, no one died, but wrecked. The letter is complete, including St. Croix Rhum. Noted “25” in blue crayon, the number on the ship mail list. Beautifully preserved.

Letter sent from Bergedorf 1860 the Duchy of Schleswig, Holm Mühle near Fleckebau south of the Schlei, bearing a 4 sk. 1858 wavy-line spandrels tied by curved “BERGEDORF” mark. Somewhat aged and stamp short of margin at top, but still an attractive letter.

Air mail letter sent from Fresno to LD Hansen, the then postmaster of Thorshavn 10 February 1945. American resealing censor tape for resealing, censormarks DOT and double BAR, dot for the need for censorship to be done, and a bar to confirm the letter has been censored. Thorshavn receiving mark on reverse.

Local letter sent within Hadersleben 28. February 1866 and franked with 1/2 Sch. HERZOGTH-SCHLESWIG green tied by Prussian 2-ring. Local letters are scarce and this letter in an outstanding quality.

Local letter sent from “Commission Internationale Slesvig” in Flensburg 14 March 1920 and franked with 5, 15 and 40 pf overprinted CIS. Large part of the CIS overprint is missing on the 40 PF, very scarce item.

Registered letter sent to the British Consulate at Thorshavn with “Radio-Hilsen” 14. December 1940 from Andefjord. This year only, BBC had agreed to broadcast Christmas Greetings to relatives in Denmark. The fee was 5 Kr. - and should be sent to the British Consulate and this letter contained a note of 5 Kr. Letter rate 20 øre plus 30 øre registration fee.

PKT 3 / OCT 5” convention mark “6 1/2” Sgr. mark in green, red crayon “37” sk. due by the addressee in Denmark, of which the 28 sk. is foreign share and 9 sk. to the Danish post. The 37 sk. rate was for mail from USA via Hamburg and Bremen.
