Postmarked LAP ‘REYKJAVIK 13/5’ and circle ‘T’ and charged in pencil ‘25’ Dutch cent with postage due stamp 25 CENT TE BETALEN, and cancelled with ‘AMSTERDAM 20 MEY 94’, backstamped 1-ring ’21 P / EDINBURGH MY18 94’ and receiving cds ‘AMSTERDAM 19 MEI 94 10-12N’. As far as I’m aware, this is the earliest recorded letter from Iceland with a foreign postage due stamp, a great postal history rarity.

Reply side 10 PF REICHSPOST cancelled with ‘S.S. „THYRA“ ‘ line mark in violet ink, on back stamped grotesque type ‘SAUDÁKROKUR 25/10’ and Edinburgh 1-ring cds ‘EDINBURGH NO10 98’ and manuscript ‘Thyra – Reykjavik’, receving cds ‘GOLDBERG *8(SCHLESIEN)* 12.11.93.2-3N.’. A very rare and unusual ship cancellation used on a German DR reply card.

20 aur red Views and Buildings approved colour proof affixed on cardboard paper. The perforation is different here with line perforation 11½, the issued stamps is with comb perforation 14 x 14½. Only recorded.

Sent via Denmark with parcel label ‘757 Reykjavik’ and transit mark ‘KJØBENHAVN 12.10.32.11-13 / 3 TOLD POSTKT.’ Parcel weighing 3,3 kilos, total postage paid kr. 6,70 for parcels between 3-5 kg to Canada via Denmark 1.12.1931 – 31.1.1935. Parcels to North America are extremely scarce.

Jón Sigurdsson 25 Aur orange tied by cds ‘REYKJAVIK 14.VII.19’ alongside registration mark ‘ISLAND / R / ‘ with numeral ‘2915’ stamped on the envelope, backstamped ‘AALBORG 29.7.19’ receiving mark. Letter rate to Denmark 10 aur 1.1.1908 – 31.12.1919 plus 15 aur registration fee, total 25 aur correct rate.

Foot post letter from Copenhagen 11 November 1812 to Roeskilde. Manuscript “frit” indicated that the letter was prepaid to Roeskilde. In Roeskilde the local delivery fee of 2 sk. marked with red crayon “2” paid by addressee. Foot post letters sent outside Copenhagen to other provincial cities are in fact small rarities.

Local registered letter from Viderejde 2 January 1946 to Thorshavn. Franked with 10 øre and two 20 øre King Christian X tied by udsleben star 'VIDEREJDE' and 'KLAKSVIG FÆRØERNE 2.2.46 15-17' and British registration label DAKA type 4 'R / No 0069 / Klaksvig'.

Envelope with a few light stains.

THOMAS 7/3 1907” and boxed registration mark “R / St. Thomas D.V.I. / No 2561" in purple in and New York transit and Milwaukee reception mark on reverse. Letter rate 40 BIT UPU rate to US 15.7.1905 – 30.9.1907 plus 25 BIT registration fee, correct 65 BIT postage paid.

Postcard from St. Thomas 20 April to Dresden, Germany. Pair 5 BIT King Christian IX tied by LAP 'ST. THOMAS 20/4 1906' and with German HAPAG steamer purser mark 'DANIA' and date stamp 'APR20 1906'. Used on a postcard with a HAPAG steamer on reverse 'HAMBURG=AMERIKA LINIE'. Scarce purser mark in superb quality.

Unpaid letter sent from Christiansted 28 April 1856 to Copenhagen, Denmark. Canceelled ANT1 “CHRISTIANSTED 28/4 1856” alongside ANT1 “ST. THOMAS 29/4 1856” struck in blue ink. Charged manuscript “51/9” on reverse, total “60” Skilling due by the addressee noted on face, with 9 sk. Danish share, 51 foreign share = “16” Schilling Courant” = “12” Silver Groschen, of which the British share is “10” pence = 9 Silver Groschen, leaving German share with 3 Silver Groschen (12 less 9).

Cancelled with four ring cancel no dot when arriving at St. Thomas post office by the mail boat. On reverse origin mark large 'C' struck and datestamp 'ST. THOMAS 27/1 1916', large 'C' rarely found and this is a clean and clear strike.
