Hershend’s Air Mail from Bangkok 6 May 1926 to Copenhagen, with arrival 5 Junie 1926 affixed with a provisional 2 Satang/14 block of four. Of the two Fokker planes, Herschend’s V2 made an emergency landing at a Burmese ricefield, Botved continued to Tokyo. Herschend’s machine had to wait for repair before returning to Copenhagen. A rare Danish Air Mail, with Herschend’s signature and Copenhagen receiving manuscript. 

Smuggled entire letter sent from Odense to Aarhus Mølle via Copenhagen 19 July 1864 bearing a 4 sk. 1864 (defect) tied byy numeral “51” and CDS “ODENSE”. It was the procedure that letters should wait some 5 days in transit in Copenhagen before being forwarded in order to make the enemies intelligence service more difficult. Rare.

“Inside Franking” on top of revenue document dated 1870 with two 4 sk. 1864 Coat-of-Arms issue adhesives (perfs. cut down), tied by ink cancellation. Letters/documents handed in to the Local Customs office collected all letters/documents with its other papers sending it to the administration in Copenhagen. Letters/documents from the public had to be franked by the public with the appropriate letter rate, with the aim preventing the public not to enjoy free postage.

Letter docketed Kronburg 26 Dec (1850) sent to Kiel. A fascinating letter with censorship “Efterseet af kommandantskabet / over Kronborg Fæstning / Signatur” with full contents preserved. The letter is written by a professor son writing to his parents and making reference to other military persons also at the Kronborg castle. A most unusual military censorship at Kronborg and at the same time also with cachet “Segel der Polizei Amts in Kiel” on the reverse. Extremely rare.

Telegraph Depeche envelope sent with local messenger from the Viborg Telegraph Station on the Hobro-Thisted line. Endorsed “Budpenge betales ved Modtagelsen #udgjør – 16 ß.” and pre-printed “frit” crossed out with red crayon, a rare and expensive local express service letter.

2 (Sk.) stationery envelope sent from Copenhagen to Aarhus on 17 July (after 1875), cancelled with Duplex 34 “KIØBENHAVN JP 17/7 10F”. Uprated with 4 øre bicolored, rare skilling/øre mixed-franking on stationery envelope. 4 øre bicolored defect perforation at lower perforation. Otherwise fine.

Money order for 1 Mk. 45 pf sent from Flensburg to Leck 6 March 1920, bearing a 20 and 25 pf Plebiscit tied by CDS Flensburg. Letter rate 20 pf plus 25 pf for Nachnahme, correct 45 pf franking.

Air mail letter sent from Copenhagen to Knoxville, USA on 30 March 1940 bearing a 10 øre, 20 øre, 50 and two 15 øre air mail stamps, paying 30 øre foreign rate plus 80 øre air mail surcharge. Sent “via Frankrig”, this route ceased 9 April, when Denmark was occupied by Germany.

2 Rigsbankskilling Thiele printing, plate I-34, Type 8 on piece. Fine margins, cancelled with numeral ”1” Copenhagen. Major plate flaw with white line from the N-frame all the way down along KGL. PO. This is a significant and large plate flaw.

20 øre Coat-of-Arms issue 13. printing 1891 with large + small corner figures. Position A67-68, the small corner figures being pos. 68. Unused.

Border rate letter sent from Hadersleben to Kolding 29 June 1870, bearing a single NDP 1Gr. perforated Mi. Nr. 16, and tied by PER Io (DAKA 58.12). RARE.

6 øre Postcard sent from a steampship in Malmö to Copenhagen 23 October 1877, cancelled on arrival in Copenhagen with ship date stamp CDS “FRA SVERRIG 23 10 1877”.

Refugee letter sent from Nørresundby to Hannover 14 August 1946, stamped on reverse “Flygtningerlejr 49-06 - Lufthavn Vest - Nørresundby” and “LUFTVÆRNSKONTORET AALBORG POST”, and resealed with British censor resealing tape “EXAMINER 251”.

Letter sent from Kunda to Sindal 18 May 1942, bearing 35 pf “Ostland” overprint, from a dane at the cementfactory Port Kunda, Estonia back to his family in Sindal.

Letter sent from Copenhagen to a Danish volunteer in the Winterwar 14 May 1940, to Erik L. Larsen, 1. Komp. 1D, Dansk Finsk Batallion, Lovisa, Finland.

"5 Kr. Central Post Office 1912 with watermark crown, Ist. printing. Large plate flaw with "missing cornish" pos. 8 on the left stamp. By far the largest plate flaw of the newly discovered errors on the popular 5 kr. Central Post Office stamp. "

17 sk. letter sent from Copenhagen to Amstermdam 20 August 1866, franked with 3 sk. I printing and pair 4 sk. Vb printing1864-issue, tied by Copenhagen numeral 1. Amsterdam CDS arrival mark on reverse, in an excellent condition for a 1864-issue.

Royal Service lettersheet sent by “Field Post Estafette” from Amtmand Blom to Byfoged Lund in Skagen 1810-14. During the Napoleonic war the British navy controlled Danish waters and had their base at Anholt. Apparently therefore a military mail service was established at Frederikshavn along the cost to Skagen.

Copenhagen Bypost 3 øre BREVKORT 5th printing with “Fri Rekvisitionskort” and instruction of use printed below. Rare.

Value parcel sent from Esbjerg to Copenhagen 29 August 1918 and franked with 5 kr. Central Post Office 1915-issue and eight 27 øre provisional issue. Charge: parcel up to 1 kg 25 øre plus value fee, first 1000 kr. 15 øre and 129x 5 øre for the next 129.000 kr., total charge 685 øre, overfranked by 31 øre. Vertical fold through two stamps.
