Hershend’s Air Mail from Bangkok 6 May 1926 to Copenhagen, with arrival 5 Junie 1926 affixed with a provisional 2 Satang/14 block of four. Of the two Fokker planes, Herschend’s V2 made an emergency landing at a Burmese ricefield, Botved continued to Tokyo. Herschend’s machine had to wait for repair before returning to Copenhagen. A rare Danish Air Mail, with Herschend’s signature and Copenhagen receiving manuscript.

Smuggled entire letter sent from Odense to Aarhus Mølle via Copenhagen 19 July 1864 bearing a 4 sk. 1864 (defect) tied byy numeral “51” and CDS “ODENSE”. It was the procedure that letters should wait some 5 days in transit in Copenhagen before being forwarded in order to make the enemies intelligence service more difficult. Rare.

“Inside Franking” on top of revenue document dated 1870 with two 4 sk. 1864 Coat-of-Arms issue adhesives (perfs. cut down), tied by ink cancellation. Letters/documents handed in to the Local Customs office collected all letters/documents with its other papers sending it to the administration in Copenhagen. Letters/documents from the public had to be franked by the public with the appropriate letter rate, with the aim preventing the public not to enjoy free postage.

Letter docketed Kronburg 26 Dec (1850) sent to Kiel. A fascinating letter with censorship “Efterseet af kommandantskabet / over Kronborg Fæstning / Signatur” with full contents preserved. The letter is written by a professor son writing to his parents and making reference to other military persons also at the Kronborg castle. A most unusual military censorship at Kronborg and at the same time also with cachet “Segel der Polizei Amts in Kiel” on the reverse. Extremely rare.

Air mail letter sent from Copenhagen to Knoxville, USA on 30 March 1940 bearing a 10 øre, 20 øre, 50 and two 15 øre air mail stamps, paying 30 øre foreign rate plus 80 øre air mail surcharge. Sent “via Frankrig”, this route ceased 9 April, when Denmark was occupied by Germany.
