Royal Service letter from Sonderburg 16 November 1738 to Husum with Sonderborg city wax seal. Front with Royal insignia - C6tus Königl. Commission Affairer ·/· and noted – ohne Attest – and crossed out; Königl. Commission Affairer. It is thought, that Husum sent a letter so that Sonderburg had to pay postage since Sonderburg is writing the following inside the letter; 6-tus setzen zu lassen, damit es an porto keine Kostern verursachen möge. Likely only recorded with reference to Royal Insignia letter was not charged. Illustrated in ARGE SCH 163.VII-VIII.

A rather unique endorsement on reverse “Afsendt 28 Novbr. 74 kl. 1 eftermidg. Fra Pastor P. Raae Dalby Præstgaard pr. kjerteminde”.

Letter sent from Iceland, stamped Reykjavik 29 September (1893) to Vejle, Denmark. The adhesive has gone missing enroute to Denmark, then noted in blue crayon with a cross “mgl” meaning missing/mangler with Copenhagen transit mark and Vejle receiving mark on reverse. Charged 30 øre by the addresse, which likely is the 30 aur 2nd letter rate, some restoration to preserve an unusual letter from Iceland.

Letter sent from Aarhus 2 February 1942 to Max Andersen, a Danish slave labourer in Germany at the camp “Lager zur Hochbrücke Kiel-Wik under control of “Marinebauamt”, but then returned to sender with the message that he has left the camp. A rare example showing that Germany also used a lot of Danish slave labourers.

Faroe Islands, 1940
Official letter “Færøernes Politikreds” to the Minystry of Justice in Copenhagen, with oval stamp “FÆRÖ AMT” on reverse, bearing a 15 øre Caravel issue tied by “STATSMINISTERIET 18.MAR.1940” when arriving in Copenhagen. Probabliy sent in courier mail bag aboard “Islands Falk” leaving Thorshavn 12 March and arriving Copenhagen 18 March. Only a few letters are known sent from Faroe Islands with “STATSMINISTERIET” postmark. The reason for not cancelling the letters before arrival in Copenhagen was in order that the stamps could be used for forwarding the letters to the addressee.
